The Legend of Princess Hijau and the Mythical Cannon Stub

Legend has it that in the Sultanate of Deli Lama, about 10 km from Medan, there lived a beautiful princess named Princess Hijau. She was so beautiful that the prince fell in love with her and wanted to apply for her hand in marriage. Unfortunately, her application was rejected by the two brothers of Princess Hijau, which angered the Sultan and led to a war between the Sultanate of Aceh and Deli.

During the war, one of the brothers of Princess Hijau was transformed into a monster, which could not be killed even by the soldiers firing cannons in Aceh. Due to continuous firing, the cannon broke into two parts, and these parts are now kept in the Palace Maimoon and in the village of Sukanalu.

The Palace Maimoon has a Karo-style house to store the cannon, as the ancestors of the kings of Batak Karo Deli have the blood of the blood but also India. The legend also tells the story of how Princess Hijau was kidnapped and put in a glass coffin, and how her brother, who was transformed into a snake dragon, saved her from being taken to Aceh.

Regardless of the truth behind the legend, it continues to be passed down from generation to generation, with each generation adding their own spices to the tale. This legend is a part of the cultural heritage of the people of Medan and is an important attraction for tourists who visit the area.
